What's this all about?

I'm a guy with way too many interests and way too much time on my hands. A while back I realized that I spend a lot of my time just telling people I know about the various media I consume, so I just figured what the hell, let's just lay it all out. On here, you'll see my reviews of video games, films, books, tv shows, and more, but I've also decided to upload my hobbies here as well because why not?

Banished: Finishing the Job

The production quarter of what would become Brandthold's old town. This market has been serving the people of this small city for over seventy years, and all without a disaster. Banished is one of those games that isn't quite there, always sitting in my Steam library in an unfinished state, and it will always be an unfinished game. The creator walked away from it years ago, leaving a deceptively simple city building game that feels like it has real potential. Fortunately, it has a small modding community that saw the potential of the easy to pick up grid-based gameplay. I'd strongly recommend the game personally, but in all honesty playing it modded is a must. Unmodified, the base game acts as a good tutorial, with basic buildings (seventeen in total with zero upgrades) and no need to refine materials. Once you've gotten the hang of the gameplay, I'd recommend installing Colonial Charter , which is a megamod (mod composed of other mods) that really ramps up t

My Friend Pedro: Hello There :)

Is it ridiculous? Yep. Is it excessive? Maybe. Does it feel awesome? Perhaps not in the moment, but watching your replay works wonders. The first game I finished during my unexpected week off due to Covid-19 shuttering my university was My Friend Pedro , a 2-D action platformer. Very much in the same vein of gameplay as Hotline Miami, My Friend Pedro modifies the former's gameplay with a larger focus on trick shots and confrontation. It also is a radically different kind of game, being somehow more light-hearted and comical than the former despite having roughly an equal amount of violence. I thoroughly enjoyed my time dodging and weaving through My Friend Pedro , so let's get to it. The story of My Friend Pedro is essentially nonexistent, with you and a sentient talking banana named Pedro massacring legions of goons in a futuristic city, without spoiling things that is essentially it. The game can be split into four to five chapters with a varying number of levels in

Dishonored: After the Quarantine Shall We Meet for Whisky and Cigars?

Well that's encouraging... Over my spring break I got around to playing Dishonored , a game that's been sitting in my Steam library for maybe six years. A stealth-action game, Dishonored has you playing as a dishonored assassin/bodyguard on the hunt for those who have wronged him in a quest to put things back in order. I'm not a stealthy person, but I admit I did have a good deal of fun sneaking in the shadows in this game, certainly more so than in Thief (2013). I've heard a lot of praise for this game over the years, and while I don't fully think it's all deserved, there's still a lot of genuinely good things to talk about here. To begin, Dishonored 's plot is pretty typical of these stealth-action games, it's almost like it was written around a blueprint. Story events don't feel built up at all, one second you're chums with everyone, and the next you're drugged and left for dead. It feels very disconnected, which is particularly
