What's this all about?
I'm a guy with way too many interests and way too much time on my hands. A while back I realized that I spend a lot of my time just telling people I know about the various media I consume, so I just figured what the hell, let's just lay it all out. On here, you'll see my reviews of video games, films, books, tv shows, and more, but I've also decided to upload my hobbies here as well because why not?
Hobbies
To save room on my top bar I created this repository to display my various hobbies and whatnot, hopefully it will help pare things down a tad.

Spark in the Dark is a dungeon-crawling action RPG made by the first-time game dev team of Stellar Fish, and recently as part of the Steam Next Fest a demo was made available. What had been showcased prior had caught my attention because of its visual similarities to Exanima , a favorite of mine, but the games are really not at all similar. The demo was quite promising, though there is still a great deal of room for improvement. The demo covers the first level of the rogue-like adventure, where after choosing a class (essentially a playstyle), the game plops you in the entry room of the dungeon. The four classes (Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, and Blacksmith) offer dramatically different playstyles that go beyond simple weapon/armor choices. The map is the same on each run, with the same item and enemy placement. From this, the presence of containers and their status is randomized, as are traps. In some runs there are hardly any, and others a secret passage is littered with the things,...
Well that's encouraging... Over my spring break I got around to playing Dishonored , a game that's been sitting in my Steam library for maybe six years. A stealth-action game, Dishonored has you playing as a dishonored assassin/bodyguard on the hunt for those who have wronged him in a quest to put things back in order. I'm not a stealthy person, but I admit I did have a good deal of fun sneaking in the shadows in this game, certainly more so than in Thief (2013). I've heard a lot of praise for this game over the years, and while I don't fully think it's all deserved, there's still a lot of genuinely good things to talk about here. To begin, Dishonored 's plot is pretty typical of these stealth-action games, it's almost like it was written around a blueprint. Story events don't feel built up at all, one second you're chums with everyone, and the next you're drugged and left for dead. It feels very disconnected, which is particularly...
Knives Out was a film that was on my radar for a while, and I did want to see it, though only after I watched Clue . Yes, I'm probably the only person who has never seen Clue before. It was only at the recommendation of one of my friends (thank you Elaina) that I finally said "screw this" and watched it with my dad. Now that I've seen it, I want to see Clue even more, because in truth I very much enjoyed Knives Out , it's just such a fun movie that invites introspection while rewarding both attentive and inattentive viewers alike, and at the end of the day, that's much more than I expected with this film. Unfortunately the cast's wardrobe is nowhere near as colorful as suggested, but I'd say it's for the best, it's incredibly easy to tell who's from who based on sheer personality. The plot of Knives Out is a murder mystery, duh. However, what separates it from other mysteries is that by the mid-point you have literally seen the m...
