What's this all about?

I'm a guy with way too many interests and way too much time on my hands. A while back I realized that I spend a lot of my time just telling people I know about the various media I consume, so I just figured what the hell, let's just lay it all out. On here, you'll see my reviews of video games, films, books, tv shows, and more, but I've also decided to upload my hobbies here as well because why not?

Salvage Operation (The Emperor of the Waves)

The third adventure in the Wizards of the Coast book, "Salvage Operation" is a pretty unique dungeon-crawl adventure if I say so myself. Along with facing a bunch of monsters and ne'er-do-wells on a derelict vessel, the complication of carrying the targeted crate and the arrival of a titanic sea creature gives the adventure a movie-like finish.

As for the map, I used some custom assets to make the waves, and after staring at pictures of ships cresting waves for far too long, they are about to my liking for now. Unfortunately, there were no giant octopus assets that I could find, so there's no alternate map depicting the dramatic assault on the derelict vessel to my dismay. I may make a revised version in the future, but I'll cross that bridge when I feel like it.

The Quarterdeck:
I must say, I'm quite proud of the waves, though they look better on the main deck. The shadows onto the main deck I'm a big fan of, though I wish that I was able to get some shadows alongside the ship to stow the different height of the ship relative to the water, as it stands there's not much separation.

The Main Deck:
I don't have much to say here that I haven't said before, except that this was probably the most I've ever used the layering of props before in this program. The way the hull was shaped did take a few versions to iron out, but I'm entirely satisfied with it now.

The Lower Deck (aka arachnaphobe hell):
No witty comment here, the custom stair pathway I found online was perhaps more trouble than it was worth (not to mention that the newest update of Dungeondraft comes with one), and I wish that there was some sort of dust brush tool, the area looks too clean for my liking.

The Hold:
With everything shifted to the port side from weeks of floating adrift and battering, the ship's hold is hardly a pleasant place, and the possibility of being dropped right into a fight with some vile cannibals hardly improves it. There's no option for semitransparent water at the moment, or else I would have included that due to the floor being submerged underneath three feet of it, so I'll add it to the bucket list for things to improve in the next pass.
